Harry Peter Ciolkosz's Obituary
HARRY P. CIOLKOSZ,beloved husband of Jean Zavatkay(nee) of West Hartford, married 64 years;died after a lengthy illness at University Hospital, Tamarac, FL on November 11, 2012. Born May 28, 1924 in Winsted CT, son of Joseph and Antoinette Ciolkosz, formerly of 92 Ridge Street, Winsted, CT. Harry attended elementary schools and The Gilbert School, Winsted, CT; Oliver Wolcott Technical School, Torrington, CT; received an Electrical Engineering degree from Pratt Institute in Hartford, CT. He was employed several years with Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks, CT. In WW II , he served with the 1st Marine Division in South Pacific campaigns, including Guadalcanal, Pelilu, and New Guinea. He was a multiple purple heart recipient.Beside his wife Jean, he is survived by daughter Linda, Pompano Beach FL; son, John, Orlando FL; grandchildren: Airman James Henzel, Minot AFB, ND, Christopher, Nicholas and Alicia Martin, Miami FL; great-grandchildren: Cecilia and James Martin, Miami FL. He is survived by sisters Matilda Sesko, New Hartford, Ct and Lorraine Gutowski of West Orange, NJ. He is predeceased by son, James, and brothers Chester, Frank, and Edwin Ciolkosz and sister, Lillian Gadzala. Catholic services on Thursday, November 15 at Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 8135 West McNab Road, Tamarac, FL at 11:00 a.m. Interment services at 1:15 p.m., Lake Worth, FL, South FL National Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
