Herbert A. Roth's Obituary
Herbert (Herb) Roth passed away on August 4, 2014 after a long fight with cancer. He was 93 years young. Herb was born on February 25th, 1921 in Chicago IL to Anna Cohen Roth born in Montreal Canada and Dr. Abraham Roth (a Dentist and pharmacist) born in Russia. Herb was predeceased by his parents, sister; Charlotte Curtis and brothers; Sidney and Warren Roth.
Herb attended Hyde Park Senior High and graduated from Sullivan Senior High in Chicago in 1938. After graduation he served in the Army during WWII as a Sergeant in the medical unit as a Pharmacist Assistant at Camp Wolters in Texas. After the war he returned to Chicago and attended Northwestern University for two years to study business. He married Dolores Sklare in November of 1950. Herb owned several Miska Liquor stores in the Chicago area. They resided in Skokie IL until his retirement to Boynton Beach Florida in 1980. During his retirement he went to work for his son at the Roth Insurance Agency in Boca Raton and worked there into his 92 year.
Herb is survived by his wife Dolores, son Martin Lawrence (wife Leslie and their two children; Stephanie and Joseph), son Steven Aaron (wife Lisa and their two children; Rachel and Jordan) and daughter Andrea Gayle Kidd (husband William and their 4 daughters; Amanda, Briana, Cara and Daria).
Herb was a loving and caring husband and father. He was a quiet man but one with a wonderful sense of humor. As a young man he enjoyed roller-skating and playing basketball. As an adult he enjoyed boating on the Lakes of the Ozarks, Fox River and the waterways of Florida with his family. He also enjoyed rounds of golf with friends and his son Steven and grandsons Joe and Jordan.
Herb will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services to be held 2pm on Thursday August 7, 2014 Beth Israel Memorial Chapel 11115 Jog Road Boynton Beach, Florida. Interment to Follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens Boynton Beach, FL. The family will be sitting Shiva Thursday, Friday till 5pm and Sat evening after sundown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County 5300 East Ave West Palm Beach, Fl. 33407
