Hyman David Coverman's Obituary
COVERMAN, Hyman David, 97, passed peacefully on July 18th. He was a World War II veteran and received two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. While stationed in Miami in 1942, he was invited to the home of Nathan and Mary Adelman for Shabbat dinner. He met and fell in love with their daughter Marcie. He and Marcie Adelman were married for 46 years until her passing in 1989.
They were active members of The Flagler Granada Jewish Center and Beth David Congregation. He was a co-owner and Vice-President of Adelman Pipe & Steel. He was also President of the South Florida B’nai Birth organization and a long-time volunteer at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami and at Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs, FL.
He is survived by his two daughters, Esta (Charles) Tishgart, Mary (James) Legnon and his dear friend Sylvia Kravitz, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Donations in his memory can be made to the charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 20th at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, 5505 NW 3rd St., Miami.
