Hyman Herbert Katz's Obituary
Hyman Herbert Katz, 93, passed away on February 23,2017. He was a resident of the North Miami Beach / Aventura area since 1958.
Devoted husband, father and father in law of late wife Dorothy, daughter Mili and Manfred Hawran, son Martin and Kim, son Steve and Jaimie. Loving companion of Renee Brown. Beloved grandfather of Matthias, Patrick and Jerome Hawran, Lauren Treece, Marshall and Arden Katz, and great grandfather of Elijah, Noah, Salome, YaEl, Nathan and Henry Hawran, Lucy, Margo and Elyn Treece. Cherished uncle and grand uncle of extended the extended Katz family, including Honey and Irvin Pachter.
Hy was a 50 year member and past president of the Beth Torah congregation. He also was the past president of the Carmen Nappo Youth Symphony and the Miami Design Merchants Association. Hy was the founder and proprietor of Biscayne Furniture, Sofas and Chairs Unlimited and International Designer Imports.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Hy was the son Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. He was an avid sports fan and had a great love of cantorial and klezmer music.
Like his Hebrew name, Chaim, he had a zest for life, and couldn't imagine living it anywhere other than his beloved adopted city of Miami.
