Hyman Manes' Obituary
MANES, Hyman, 91 years old, passed away on Monday, May 16. He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 71 years, Sonia (Riva) Manes, and his 3 grateful children Rosalyn Manes Friedman, Aaron Manes (Gina), and Zena Manes Dickstein (Jeffrey). He was a proud grandfather to six loving grandchildren Charlotte Kadin (Joey), Michael Manes, Steven Dickstein, Shana Dickstein, Michelle Dickstein, and Marla Manes. Hyman was born in the small town of Bilgoraj, Poland in 1924. He bravely served in the Partisan Resistance where he met his future wife, Sonia (Riva) Dym. After surviving the Holocaust, they married in 1945 and emigrated to the United States alone with their first child at the end of 1949. With strength and determination, he, along with his wife, overcame every obstacle and challenge presented, and together they created an extremely close-knit, loving family which was his greatest pride and joy. His optimism and humor brightened every situation, as did his singing at every family occasion. He left an indelible mark on everybody he met. His love and spirit will live on eternally in our hearts.
