Rabbi Jeffrey L. Falick
I am so sorry that I am just now hearing about Ike's death. I first met Ike in 1996 when I came home to Miami to work at the UM Hillel. Subsequently, he and I worked in the same building at the Alper JCC - he in the Federation office and I in the Alper staff office.
Though our relationship was professional, I considered him a dear friend. More than that, he was a great role model. In addition to his many professional accomplishments - and the man worked hours beyond the imagination - he was always doing something to help someone in the community. He did these hundreds (thousands?) of little things with no fanfare or applause. I was only aware of the scope of what he did because he would occasionally take one of his side trips before or after a meeting we had. During the close to eighteen years of our colleagueship I learned more about being a rabbi from him than from any ordained rabbi I ever knew.
Ike was a truly special person. Memories of him already blessed my life and forever will.
