Irving Weissler's Obituary
WEISSLER, Irving, 101, of Boca Raton, Florida formerly of New York City passed away December 21, 2017. Husband of the late Sylvia (Gewirtz), and the father of Elayne Weissler-Martello (husband Norman) of Palo Alto, CA and the late Francine Sue Liss (husband Albert, deceased), and cherished grandfather of Lori (Liss) Sackett (husband Jonathan), and great-grandfather of Aaron, Shaina, Matthew & Jennifer Sackett. He is also survived by his personal caregiver of many years, Michael Reynolds, formerly of Montego Bay, Jamaica.
His father Joseph (Yosef) Weissler and his mother Helen (Chaya) Wein came from Nisko, Poland, a minority Jewish (10%) town in a region adjacent to the Carpathian Mountains, historically Galicia. The family immigrated to New York after World War I, and Irving met his wife Sylvia, whose family was from Frysztak, a mixed Jewish and Gentile village in the Carpathian foothills. Nisko later became a transit hub eastward for the forcible relocation of about 95,000 Jews during World War II.
His body and spirit were always on the move to his last days,
happy and kind to all, as the light of the Lord in this world.
Today that light has been diminished.
His memory is for a blessing.
Funeral Service 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2015 at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road #7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473. He will be buried with military honors as a World War II veteran.
