Irwin H. Schwartz's Obituary
Place of Birth: Brooklyn, NY. July 15th, 1940
Irwin “Irv” Schwartz, beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Brother, died June 24th, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami, at the age of 80.
Irv loved life, loved people, and loved his family. He had an infectious sense of humor, an ability to connect with anybody, and touched everybody around him. He loved to travel the world and would take that outgoing spirit with him everywhere he went.
He was an innovator and a fiercely competitive and smart entrepreneur. He was a pioneer in the Children’s Record business with product lines he created for Disney, started his own record label, IJE Records , and in 1988, founded video game publisher Gametek, one of the most successful game publishers of the early 90’s.
In retirement, he stayed active with his passion for sports, travel and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Curran, Jennifer Schwartz, and Gabrielle Ciesielski, his son-in-laws Steve Curran, Adam Ciesielski, his sister Nina Carter, his brother in-law Larry Carter, and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
“Poppy” as he was known by to his family, had a personality and heart larger than life, and will be missed by many. He was one of a kind.
