Isabelle J. Cooke's Obituary
Isabelle Jean Cohen Cooke passed away after almost 92 years of a full, loving life.
On February 16, 2022 she was reunited into the spiritual arms of her beloved husband Stanford B. Cooke, who preceded her in death. She was lovingly cared for since Stan’s death by her children, Stanley H. Cooke, Harriet Cooke, Barry J. (Vanessa) Cooke,
Randy D. (Kay) Cooke, and Kenneth J. Cooke. She is additionally survived by
9 grandchildren and an almost 1 year old great-granddaughter. Isabelle was born in Ardmore Pennsylvania, the only child of Simon and Ann Cohen. She attended Drexel University and majored in home economics, desiring above all to be a mother and
to do it well! She had initially wanted 12 children, to give a loving home to the souls of Jewish children who perished in the Holocaust. Her doctor told her she needed to stop at five. Isabelle had great love for her family. She used her college level skills to cook wonderful meals and maintain a beautiful, warm, and welcoming home for family and friends. Friday night family Shabbos dinners were a weekly gathering that included her parents for the many years they lived nearby. In addition to her amazing cooking and homemaking skills, she was accomplished in needlepoint, knitting, and the last three decades of her life, creating extraordinary quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, the weddings, the babies, and even college quilts, sometimes with the letters and mascots of the schools. And she loved throwing parties to celebrate birthdays, bar and bat-mitzvahs, weddings, and hosting large family gatherings for Passover and family reunions. She and Stan supported the educational efforts of their children, never pressuring them to be anything in particular~ but happy. In addition to the care of her family, she and Stan spent decades taking ballroom dance lessons and dancing across the world in cruises that covered every continent. She was married to Stanford for 67 years, deeply in love through them all. She loved us all enough to hang out for almost two more years, before leaving this world and rejoining him in the world beyond. The family requests donations in memory of Isabelle Cooke be made to Temple Beth Emet Early Childhood Center Fund,
