Jack Lavin's Obituary
LAVIN, Jack, 90, of Aventura, FL passed away peacefully on March 5, 2016. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan Lavin, his children, Andy and Cindy Lavin, Rick Lavin and Leslie Lavin Pena and Randy Faerber, and predeceased by Bert Pena. He adored his grandchildren Zack, Danny, Lindsay, Marissa, Zach, Ilana, Lucas, and Blake, and his two great grandchildren, with one more in production. Jack was a prolific writer.
While serving in the Navy during World War ll he was the editor of the Guam Gazette. While attending Syracuse University he wrote a column for the Daily Orange. He wrote original plays that were staged at Beth Torah, and penned and performed countless "candle lighting ceremonies" for the neighborhood bar and bat mitzvahs. Jack was the co-owner of Young Sophisticates, which grew to 15 stores statewide. Jack was loved and respected by everyone who was fortunate to know him. He cherished his family and friends every day of his life, and they him. We will always remember his warmth, lust for life and his sharp wit. Chapel service Monday, March 7, 2016 at 12:30pm at Levitt Weinstein- 18840 W. Dixie Highway, NMB, FL 33180 305-932-2700 with interment at Lakeside Memorial Park.
