Jack A. Stromfeld's Obituary
Stromfeld, Jack. Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather passed away in Pembroke Pines, on Monday, March 12th, 2018. Born in Richmond Heights, New York on April 20th, 1917. He was preceded in life by his sister, Matilda and brother, Murray. Jack had a wonderful and fulfilling 100 years of life. He proudly served overseas in the United States Army during WWII. After the war Jack married the love of his life, Charlotte Soffer and moved to Davenport, Iowa where they raised two beautiful daughters. They were married for 67 years until Charlotte’s passing in 2013.
Jack had a successful career in the women’s apparel business in the Midwest, New York, Florida and Puerto Rico. After his retirement, Jack devoted the next 26 years of his life as the founder and driving force of the American Friends of Neve Michael serving as volunteer director. Through his efforts, Neve Michael Children’s Village was able to provide a caring and loving home to thousands of disadvantaged children in Israel. He had an active participation in many Jewish organizations and other philanthropic endeavors.
Jack is survived by his two daughters, Judith May (Daniel), Linda Gest (Alan), five grandchildren, Nicole Filip (Arthur), Michelle Gest, Jacquelyn Gest, Michael Tweed, Ira Tweed (Wendy) and four great grandchildren, Matthew Filip, Jacob Filip, Page Tweed and Hudson Tweed.
Funeral services will be held at Levitt-Weinstein - Beth David Cemetery, 3201 Northwest 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida, 33024 at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15th, 2018. Entombment to follow at Lakeside Memorial Doral followed by Kiddush celebration at Temple Solel in Hollywood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Neve Michael Children’s Village at www.nevemichael.com.
