Jacob A. Levy M.D.'s Obituary
Dear Friends
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob A. Levy, M.D., a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and dear friend and compassionate human being.
At this difficult time, our hearts go out to Lucero, his beloved wife of 46 years, their Children Jessica Leah (David Dubowy), Alegre; and Jonathan Obed (Rachel); and Grandchildren: Ryan, Olivia and Daniel Dubowy; Adriana Cosicher Levy, and Jacobito Levy. Also, to his siblings in the United States: Gloria, Lily, Alberto, and Jose and family, and in Israel: Fortune, Linda, Moshe, Saul, Simon and Ruben and their families.
Jacob was born in Aleppo, Syria. At the early age of 2, he emigrated to Colombia with his parents Adolfo and Leah and his two older siblings David and Elias, all of blessed memory.
Jacob graduated as baccalaureate from Gimnasio del Pacifico in Tulua; and in 1954, he graduated as medical doctor from Universidad Nacional in Bogota, Colombia, where he earned an Honor Matriculation award for the highest grades during Academic Years 1949 and 1950.
Jacob did his internship in Hospital San Juan de Dios in Cali, and also at New York Polyclinic Medical School and Hospital. He did residencies at Hospital Universitario del Valle in Cali and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where he was Chief Anesthesiology Resident.
Jacob was Diplomate of the Colombian Council of Anesthesiology, Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology and Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He had hospital affiliations to Hospital Universitario del Valle, in Cali, Colombia; attending anesthesiologist at Venezuelan Red Cross Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela; Assistant Attending in Anesthesiology of Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, in New York; Staff Anesthesiologist of Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, and Staff Anesthesiologist for 25 years at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, now University of Miami Hospital.
Jacob leaves his dear family and lifelong friends with rich memories of family and life celebrations. He will be dearly missed and remembered.
