Jacqueline S. Hertz's Obituary
HERTZ, Jacqueline S. born in the Bronx, New York in 1947, lived a life full of passion and energy. She passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, with the comfort of her loving husband, Stephen Hertz, and adoring stepson Scott Hertz by her side.
A champion of rights for the disabled and the elderly, Jacque, a professional guardian, owned and operated Angel Care Management—a life care management company that helps elevate the quality of living for scores of people from children in need of protection to those in the last chapters of their lives. In addition to her work, Jacque tirelessly gave of herself to the community. She was a founder, board, or advisory committee member for a host of important organizations. To name a few, Jacque was the current president of the South Florida Guardianship Association and a director of the Florida State Guardianship Association. Jacque served on the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority for six years. She was the past president of the Board of Directors of the Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health Center of Miami Beach, and past chair of the City of Miami Beach’s Commission on the Status of Women. Jacque was a member of the Anti-Defamation League, the Foundation of Jewish Philanthropies, and an associate member of the Miami Beach Bar Association. She was a founder at the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged and a founder at Mount Sinai Hospital. Jacque was the prime moving force in establishing Prime Time Seniors, a not-for-profit organization devoted to fostering greater understanding and appreciation of our community's elderly multicultural population, bringing together seniors for educational, social and special events, and community celebrations. Her efforts were recognized by the Miami–Dade County Board of Commissioners when they named May, 21 1996 as Jacqueline S. Hertz Day for her many contributions to Dade County’s elder population. She was likewise honored by the City of Miami Beach when it proclaimed March 15, 2000 as Jacqueline Hertz Day.
In addition to her devotion to helping scores of ill, disabled, and elderly people whose rights and healthcare needs she championed, nothing was more important to Jacque than sharing time with her adoring family and being mother to sons Howard (Carol) Goldberg, Bradley (Candice) Goldberg, and Scott (Andrea) Hertz, grandmother (Oma) to Hayden, Maxton, Tobin, and Ellison.
Jacque is also survived by her loving sister, Eva (Keith) Staiman and brothers, Fred (Stella) Wohlfarth and Michael Wohlfarth.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in Jacque’s name to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center http://sylvester.org/community/giving/make-a-gift-today or to the Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health Center of Miami Beach located at 1680 Meridian Avenue, Ste. 510, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel located at 720-71st Street, Miami Beach, FL 33141 (305) 538-6371
