I was recently thinking about the most influential people in my life which had to include Ms. Krutchik. It was past due to reach out and thank her for the inspiration and support but sadly learned she was gone. Those bedrocks in your life seem timeless but they all move on.
She was more than a teacher or friend, she saw a spark in me and supported a vision that few understood.
In 86/87 at Southridge she supported the creation of the film and television club which supported students to visit the studios in Hollywood and pursue our dreams.
Because of her support I was able to work on feature films and retuned to speak with the class and offer memorabilia to the students from movies including Miami Blues, Silence of the Lambs and Last Action Hero.
Her support continued long into life when I became personal assistant to Robert DeNiro and later worked on films with Scorsese, Redford, Bay, Howard and more. I could always feel her inspiration with me.
Had it not been for her unwavering support and encouragement, I doubt the journey into film and television would have been possible.
Her love and contribution to cinema was through her strength and guidance to so many young people as we blossomed.
Thank you Miss Janet Krutchick for being a bedrock of inspiration and support when we needed it most.
I wish I could have told you in person, but I think you already knew.
With love,
Jeffrey T Barabe
