Janeth Serbin's Obituary
SERBIN
Janeth, born March 26, 1915, passed away March 18, 2013.
Janeth had a perfect life. She was a grand lady born to the late
Lester and Gertrude Kahn in Cleveland, Ohio. She was
married to the late Lewis I. Serbin, founder of Serbin
fashions, for 50 years, pre-deceased brother, Robert Kahn.
They moved to Miami Beach in 1951 with their daughters
Kathy and Marianne. A devoted, loving, perfect mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother. Janeth was the matriarch of the family. A member
of Temple Israel since 1952, a long-time volunteer at Mount Sinai, an avid canasta
mah-jongg and bingo player. Her love of ice cream was legendary.
Janeth is survived by daughters Kathy (Ivan) Berman, Marianne
Friedman, grandchildren: Douglas (Alisa) Friedman, Andrew (Caitlin) Friedman, Amy (Rob) Costello, Todd Berman and Lauren Berman. Great-grandchildren: Kelly, Jake,
Brian, Sydney, Declan, Taylor. Grateful for the love and loyalty of
Maria Mayen and special Aide Elaine Reid who made every day a joy.
Graveside services at Mt. Nebo, 5505 N.W. 3rd Street, on Friday,
March 22 at 11 a.m. Receiving guests at Janeth's home after services.
