Jay Michael Meiselman's Obituary
Jay Michael Meiselman, 73, passed away on May 18th in Boca Raton, Florida. He was born on December 11, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to Sandy and Muriel Meiselman.
Jay spent much of his childhood in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating in 1966 from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in aeronautical engineering, he spent time in the United States Air Force, and attained the rank of Captain. Upon leaving the Air Force, he spent many years as an executive in the printing industry.
Jay married Stephanie Thorp in 1966 in Asheville, North Carolina. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this upcoming September. He was generous and charitable, sharing his time and resources with many organizations in the communities where he lived: Temple Israel in Dayton, Ohio, various boards within the printing industry, the Board of Directors at Boca Woods, Hillels of Georgia, and several others. He loved to travel the world and go on great adventures with Stephanie, his children, his grandchildren and his many friends. He also loved rooting on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and singing the Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech.
Jay will be greatly missed and dearly remembered by those who survive him: wife, Stephanie; daughter, Dana and son, David; grandchildren, Seth, Sarah and Regan; and brothers, Mark (Pat) and Kenny (Andi).
A funeral service will be held at the Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 7500 N. State Road 7, Coconut Creek, Florida 33073 at 12:00 on Friday May 20. Burial will follow the funeral at Eternal Light. Shiva minyan will be held Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 7:00 PM. The family will sit Shiva on Sunday and Monday from 2:00 until 5:00 at the family home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation (mission is to advance the research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer) in Jay’s memory by visiting the following link: https://www.lustgarten.org/donate. Additionally, the family will be collecting donations for a memorial brick or plaque at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida.
