Jean Scheinman's Obituary
Jean Scheinman, who peacefully passed on June 11, 2024, was a woman who always put family first, is survived by her children Bryne and her husband Michael Miller, Sydney and his wife Anat Scheinman and Stephen and his wife Nancy Scheinman. She is survived by her grandchildren Benjamin Miller (spouse, Rebecca), James Miller (spouse, Vanina), Zachary Miller (spouse, Jennifer), Traci Ruben (spouse, Michael), Cassie Feldman (spouse, Gregory) and William Scheinman, great grandchildren Harrison Ruben, Spencer Ruben, Kara Miller, Melanie Miller, Coralie Miller, Abram Miller, Reed Miller and Adelin Miller. Also survived by niece Leslie Miller Saiontz, and nephews Stuart Miller and Jeffrey Miller to whom she was devoted and who were devoted to her.
Jean was born in 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland to Florence and Benjamin Miller. She had a close loving younger sister, Susan Miller, who predeceased her. She married Solomon Scheinman in 1948 and had three children. They had a mutually adoring marriage until he passed away in 1992. They worked tirelessly together in Sol’s dental practice in New Bedford, Massachusetts serving their community with great care. Jean enjoyed her stint as a substitute teacher in the Dartmouth, Massachusetts school system. Jean and Sol moved from their home in New Bedford to Delray Beach, Florida in 1988.
After the death of her beloved Sol, she married Louis Liss, who predeceased her, and welcomed his family as her own including Ayan and Mike Rubin, Stuart and Judy Liss and grandchildren Gillian and Mike Parish, Bethany and Daniel Henderson, Michael and Jess Liss, Nicole and Hugh Miller and Danny and Ashley Liss and their children.
She had a magnetic personality and became friends with everyone who’s path she crossed. She had the honor of meeting two U.S presidents- Bill Clinton and Barak Obama, as well as Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton; and U.S. cabinet member Donna Shalala. She was known for her kindness, loving nature and unyielding love of family. She had uncompromising values, which she transmitted to all generations of her family. She had extraordinary cognitive abilities displaying knowledge of world politics, ability with challenging word puzzles, and a had remarkable memory for the phone numbers of friends and family.
