Dr. Jeanne Josell Leslie's Obituary
Dr. Jeanne Josell Leslie passed peacefully on October 8, 2017, having lived a full life just shy of 90 years in New York, New Jersey and Florida. She was born in Brooklyn on January 20, 1928 to Dr. Morris & Sadie Josell. She was a pioneer in her time, following in her mother’s footsteps who graduated from college in 1920 and taught school for more than 40 years, Dr. Jeanne, as she was known to many, graduated from Ohio State University and went on to attain her DDS from NYU where she also served as an adjunct professor. She was a highly respected pedodontist first serving the New York City Public School System and then opening her own practice in her home in Tenafly, New Jersey where she lived for more than 55 years with her angel dachshunds Janie, Coco, Nestle, Munchkin I and Munchkin II. She educated many children in Tenafly on the importance of dental health, was an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickenson University and on the staff of Englewood Hospital. She was the first female president of the Bergen County Dental Society and served as delegate to the American Dental Association traveling to their meetings in Washington, DC, San Francisco and Hawaii. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jody Leslie and grandson Marshall Leslie of Fort Lauderdale, FL, her dachshund Sassy, daughter Jill Leslie Young (John) and grandchildren Dennis and Nicole of Denver, CO, beloved brother Dr. Robert Josell (Selma) and cousins Dr. Edward Josell (Lynn) and Howard Weinreich (Isabel) as well as her beloved adopted family, Robin Greenwald (William Olinger), Brian Brown, William Brown (Brandon Lee), Betty Pair, and Cindy Kramer. She was predeceased by Peter J. Leslie (her first husband and love of her life) and Irwin M. Kalish (her second husband). The family suggests donations

Services will be held at Alexander Levitt Memorial Chapel, 8135 West McNab Road, Tamarac, Florida on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 4 PM immediately followed by a reception to celebrate her life.
