Jeffrey Platt's Obituary
JEFFREY HOWARD PLATT, 73, of Wrentham, Mass, died at 12:30 AM, on Sunday morning, July 22, 2018, after enduring extended illnesses. Jeffrey was born a “special needs/developmentally disabled” baby, in Boston in 1944, to Norman and Pauline Platt (both deceased). He spent almost his entire life living within the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services system – from 1951 through Dec. 2009 at the Fernald Developmental Center in Waltham, Mass. and from Dec. 2009 through July 22, 2018 at the Wrentham Developmental Center in Wrentham, Mass.
Jeffrey was blessed with a sweet, gentle, lovable, and friendly soul. He liked just about everyone. His ready smile, his familiar wave, and his almost constant “Hi” to almost everyone he saw, will be greatly missed by his family, and his friends, staff, and professionals at Wrentham Developmental Center. Several of Jeff’s professional team told us that Jeff was so loved by staff in not only his building, but in many other buildings. Sadly, he will never know how many people he and his memorable soul touched at both the Fernald and Wrentham Developmental Centers.
Jeffrey is survived by his three brothers: Stephen(Paula), Kenneth(Marilyn) and Marshall(Rexanne); his nieces and nephews: Glenn(Patricia), Heidi(Loren), David(Jennifer), Bree(Chris), Teddy(Yanet), Jenna(Steve) and Danny; his great-nieces and great-nephews: Zachary, Duncan, Mallory, Fiona, Eli, Niko, Hudson and Carter; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wed. July 25, 2018, at Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 3201 N. 72 Ave. Hollywood. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens 6301 Taft St., Hollywood.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Stephen and Paula Platt, 2221 N. 50th Ave., Hollywood, FL 33021 following the burial service – and will continue on Thursday and Sunday from 2 PM to 7 PM. Morning minyans will be held at Temple Sinai, 1400 N. 46th Ave., Hollywood at 8:15 AM.
If you so desire, donations may be made - in memory of Jeffrey Platt - to Wrentham Developmental Center, PO Box 144, Wrentham, Mass, 02093.
Jeff, you are now reunited with mom and dad ... in peace and with love … where your challenges will no longer hinder or limit you.
Your loving brothers, Stephen, Kenneth, and Marshall
