Jerome "Yankee", "Jerry", L. Cohen age 84, died peacefully in his sleep on January 10th, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Service: 10:00a, January 18th, 2016, Levitt-Weinstein at Beth David, 3201 Northwest 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, FL. Officiating: TBD. Burial: January 18th, 2016, Mt. Nebo/Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3rd Street, Miami, FL. Survivors: wife Marilyn Singer Cohen; her children Darrell Singer and his wife Susan, Brian Singer and his wife Diane, Jay Singer and his wife Melanie; sister Doris Berkell; nieces Fran Rafferty and her husband Kevin, Susie Loewenstein and her husband David; great nieces and nephews, and step-grandchildren. Predeceased: parents Samuel Cohen and Hannah Appel Cohen Osheroff; uncle Milton Cohen and his wife Ruth.
Jerry was born in the Bronx, New York on March 21st, 1931; graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School; received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Alabama. In the early 1950s, after college graduation, Jerry followed his mother and sister to Miami Beach. He spent most of his life in South Florida, dedicated to education and teaching at all levels. After retirement, he married Marilyn Singer on January 2nd, 1995; they were married 21 years. He spent most of his free time an avid art lover collecting over 250 pieces and other collectibles; he also enjoyed traveling the world on various cruises with Marilyn, watching baseball and basketball, and playing tennis.
