Jerome David Kauffman's Obituary
Jerome D. (Jerry) Kauffman of Boynton Beach, FL. formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Jan. 30 ,2016. Jerry was born on April 1, 1924 after 3 girls to Fanny and Morris Kauffman. He graduated from High School in June 1942 and enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania. After a semester he was drafted to fight in World War II. Jerry's mastery of the German language led to him becoming an interpreter. His unit was involved with the freeing of Ordorf Concentration Camps on April 4, 1945. After thee years in the service he returned home and later graduated from Pennsylvania State College of Optometry. After moving to Florida in 1986 Jerry continued his running and competing where he took up Race Walking ( the Olympic Sport). He was nationally classed Race Walker. Jerry often talked about the 3 ms. His wife Millie, Marathoning and Music. He entertained his family, friends and neighbors with his knowledge of Opera. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years Millie (nee Rudnitsky); nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held Tuesday February 2, 2016 1:30pm at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, FL. Directly following the services the family will be observing Shiva through Friday at the Kauffman's home.
