Dr Jerome Moskowitz's Obituary
Jerry Moskowitz, 86, of Aventura, FL, passed away on September 28, 2023. He was born on March 12, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey, to Meyer and Anne Moskowitz.
He graduated from Weequahic High School in 1954 and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. Jerry furthered his education at the Chicago Medical School. Jerry married Julie (Tenenbom) and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 in Colorado Springs. Following his military service, he continued his medical training with a residency at the University of Miami Medical School, where he specialized in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
In his professional career, Jerry worked as a dedicated Gastroenterologist and Internal Medicine specialist. He was a valued member of his medical practice throughout his career, including Hilf & Moskowitz from 1969 to 1978, Hilf Moskowitz & Cohen from 1978 to 1990, and Moskowitz & Cohen from 1990 to 2015. Jerry was President and Chief of Staff at Parkway General Hospital in 1977.
Jerry was a member of Temple Israel of Greater Miami. He found solace and connection in his friends and family.
Outside of his professional life, Jerry had a passion for sports, particularly the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Heat. He loved to travel. He enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams and spending quality time with his family, including his beloved dog, JJ.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Julie, and his children: Scott (son) and Patty (daughter-in-law), Hilary (daughter) and Jim (son-in-law), and Gregg (son) and Rachel (daughter-in-law). He was also a cherished grandfather to Hannah, Harrison, Emma, Dylan, Jesse, and, Simon.
A funeral service to honor Jerry's life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Levitt-Weinstein, Beth David, Memorial Gardens & Chapel, located at 3201 North 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33024. Following the grave site service, a Meal of Remembrance/Shiva will commence at the Moskowitz residence. It is requested that attendees wear Miami Dolphins or Miami Heat attire or colors to honor Jerry's passion for sports.
Levitt-Weinstein, Beth David, Memorial Gardens & Chapel in Hollywood, Florida, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Jerry Moskowitz will be remembered for his dedication to his profession, his unwavering love for his family, and his passionate support for his favorite sports teams. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, great advice, and a zest for life that will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
