Jerome J. Schwartz's Obituary
SCHWARTZ, Jerome Jay, 81, of Fisher Island passed away June 20, 2016 from cancer. Jerry was surrounded by his wife of 20 years, Sharon L. King, and his immediate family.
Jerry was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 1, 1935 to the late Moe and Laura Schwartz. In addition to Sharon, survivors include his brother, Stanley Schwartz and wife, Barbara of Key Biscayne, FL; three children Lisa Koonce, Mindy Meyers and Marc Schwartz of Westlake Village, CA; and seven grandchildren.
Jerry, a life-long entrepreneur, is remembered as a pioneer in the financial services industry, a mentor, and a friend. Over his 55-year career, Jerry founded Elar Partners and Windsor Insurance Associates, Inc., before teaming with Apollo Partners to form NFP, NYSE in 2003. Not one for retirement, Jerry recently created Seed My Future, LLC, a financial tool designed for millennials and young adults.
Jerry, a graduate of Miami Beach High School, attended the University of Florida before serving in the U.S. Navy.
Jerry’s family and friends recount the passion and enthusiasm he infused in to all aspects of his life, his love for travel and adventure, and his spirited exchanges and laughter. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fall.
