Jerome "Jerry" Summers' Obituary
SUMMERS
Jerome I. (Jerry), 80 a long time Miami resident, died peacefully on February 5, 2013 at his home in Miami after a long illness. Jerry was born in Newark, N.J. on May 7, 1932. He moved to Miami Beach as a young teenager and attended Miami Beach High. He later went on to study dentistry at Emory University in Atlanta, and married Nesie Indianer in 1956, who also attended Miami Beach High. He served in the Navy as a lieutenant. Jerry practiced dentistry in Miami for 35 years and was affectionately known by many as their "favorite dentist." The couple had two daughters, Vicki and Lesli, who grew up in Whispering Pines. Jerry was also known for his talent as a local actor and even established his own small theater, "Theater 24," in his dental office building, which received acclaim for its original productions. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, as well as his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nesie Summers of 56 years, two daughters, Vicki Summers and Lesli Summers-Schwartz, three beautiful grandchildren, Bradley, Molly and Kimberly, as well as many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, at www.alz.org
