Joan Plager's Obituary
Joan Freeman Plager, 87, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022 in Hollywood, Florida. Joan was born July 26, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Freeman, her husband Seymour Plager, and her grandson Jordan Fleet. Joan and her husband Seymour lived in Miami, Florida for over 55 years. Joan graduated high school in Miami Beach, Florida and then graduated from the University of Florida and became a licensed Dental Hygienist, working many years for dentists in the Miami Beach area. Joan enjoyed traveling around the world and cruising with her husband, Seymour. She worked part time at Weight Watchers for over 30 years as a meeting coordinator/lecturer, and along with Seymour, they volunteered at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop in Miami, Florida for over 20 years. Her dedication to one of her causes, CARIH (Children’s Asthma Research Institute and Hospital in Denver), which became National Jewish Health in the 70’s, won her many accolades for her volunteerism. She is survived by her two children Robert Plager (Kathy) and Debra Fleet (Jon), as well as 1 grandchild, Danielle Michaels (Blake). Joan will be lovingly remembered as a great mom and grandmother. Services will be held at Beth David Memorial Gardens, 3201 NW 72nd Ave., Hollywood, Florida on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
