My dad was a generous man who only wanted the best for his friends and families. It's been about a year and a half since he passed and reading all of your memories of my father brings tears to my eyes. My father taught me that family always come first and to make time for those you love. He would always take our family on fun adventures even if he couldn't participate in due to his health. All my dad wanted was for me to have fond memories of my childhood and wanted me to succeed in life as a good person. I was happy to see so many familiar names in the tributes. My father would always share his day around the kitchen table and I was floored to see that I recognized all of the names on the tribute wall. My dad always felt not good enough and like he never made an impact on people. I know he is smiling down from the clouds seeing the impact he had on each and everyone of you.
Thanks for sharing you memories of my father,
Sarah A. Brophy
I met John at State Street in Quincy when we were both very early in our financial services careers. I loved his humor and kindness and valued his intelligence and ability to read people. When I joined Citi in 2011, one of my first actions was to tweak him via internal messaging…surprise! We kept in touch periodically albeit distantly as I am a telecommuter from Portsmouth, NH. One of my favorite recent memories is being on the phone with an executive in NYC and all of a sudden having a note from John pop up urging me to stop giving the man such a hard time. He happened to be sitting outside of that office, overheard the conversation, and couldn’t resist teasing me. He always made me smile. He was a good man and is missed!
My thoughts are with LIsa and Sarah and the entire Brophy family.

I'm very sorry to hear recently of John's passing. He was a great mentor and colleague at our years of Citi. I greatly admired his dedication and great patience at the most difficult times. I will most miss his sense of humor and his bigger than life persona. My heartfelt condolences to Lisa and to all the Brophy family.
I will miss John's pleasant personality. Many years after I had worked with him in Tampa, I would run into him by chance ... and that same smile, the big hug, the kidding would just make me feel wonderful.
Thinking of you.

I had the pleasure to work with John for several years when he joined the bank and then I crossed him in different roles during the years. He was an excellent person to work with, always candid and collaborative. Very proud of his little baby Sarah. John will be certainly missed.
I had the pleasure of working with John on some Citi projects throughout the years. He called me his favorite SME (subject matter expert) whenever he had questions on Citi's elective dividend service to our clients. No matter how stressful the topic of conversation was, we always ended up chuckling about something before hanging up. His laugh was infectious, his manner always cordial and his work ethic unparalleled. My deepest sympathy to John's wife and daughter for their loss. May loving memories of this great guy sustain them.
