Jonny 💜🪩🫐 Jonathan David Cohen, a passionate family man, musician, entrepreneur and beloved friend to many, travelled from this life on March 7, 2026. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 26, 1957. He lived in 68 years more than many could even imagine, embraced by music innovation and amazing people through every chapter. If you met him, you loved him! His dear friends celebrate him everywhere, especially in the unique colorful Hudson valley town of New Paltz and the bright sunshine of the Summit community of Hollywood Florida. Those he knew he loved those he loved he loved totally and completely. Jons’ love for family was his soul source, what he lived for; his light, humor, and talents all show up in different ways among his beautiful children and grandchildren. His bond with each carrying personal stories, experiences, feelings and understanding. Jons respect and appreciation for his marriage and home life was ever shining and shared with a gleam in his eyes. He adored the dance of love and life! Jon is loved honored and celebrated by his wife, Amy Ross-Cohen; his beloved children, Elana Donmoyer (Jason), Joshua Cohen (Izabella), Jacob Cohen, and Jonah Cohen; and his grandchildren, Alexander and Noah. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Nudelman (Meyers); his sister, Randi Marcus (Leonard), and their children, Jason (Madeleine) and Dana Marcus. Jon lived on in legacy and love for his dearly departed father, Philip Cohen, and his first wife, Sherry Cohen (Turek) whom he had met in high school and journeyed through his early years with at Brooklyn College. Together they started his professional life as an entrepreneur opening his first storefront Jonathan David. Jon was a visionary! He built businesses and relationships from the ground up with grace and energy! He rooted for the underdog and always pushed for everyone to win! His politics, his passions, his truths drove him to live what he believed! He built community with full presence even going so far as to run for Mayor and create online forums for all to be heard! He and Amy built and blossomed the empire of the Groovy Blueberry in the late 90s and created a forum for students, families, and eccentric passersby to express themselves and find a bit of joy and a lot of community! Jon believed in the healing and joyful power of music and connection. An avid guitarist, he loved making music with friends and never missed a chance to see live performances. He had a gift for making friends everywhere he went and was cherished by all who knew him. Known for his warmth, kindness, and open heart, he encouraged everyone to live authentically and valued independence, while living his own life to the fullest. His quick humor, generosity, and love of life drew people in, and he had a special way of making everyone feel seen, celebrated, and welcomed. Friends, neighbors, and family alike will remember him for his laughter, his music, and the love he shared with everyone around him. Long live the legacy of our dearest and grooviest dreamer Jonathan David Cohen.
