Joseph "Joe" Craig Douglass' Obituary
DOUGLASSJoseph “Joe” Craig, 88, of Miami Beach, FL, passed away unexpectedly on October 4th, 2012 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach after a brief illness. He was the devoted father of William A. Douglass, Dawn Douglass Stevens, Claudia D. Williams, and Carl S. Douglass, and loving grandfather of Jack Douglass Stevens, Roman and Pierson Douglass, and Lillian Williams. He will also be missed by his daughter-in-law Alison Douglass and son-in-law Gavin Williams. Joe was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII until 1946. Upon discharge, he completed his electrical engineering degree at Cornell University. His first job was with Union Carbide in New York City. Later Joe moved to Miami Beach, where he owned and operated his own real estate business up until very recently. Joe was a dedicated member and former President of the Miami Beach Rotary Club. He was also a longtime member of Indian Creek Country Club and La Gorce Country Club. He enjoyed singing, dancing, playing bridge, and was an avid golf and tennis player. He was the son of the late Carl Thomas and Elizabeth Lee Douglass. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas. A memorial service will be held at the Church By The Sea at 501-96th Street, Surfside, FL on Monday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m., with a private burial afterwards at Woodlawn North Cemetery.BLASBERG-RUBIN-ZILBERT(305) 865-2353
