We checked in on each other this past April. I messaged you not long ago, and I called just a few days ago. I had no idea, Professor. I am proud to be one of your students. Thank you for the knowledge and inspiration you've shared with me, and allowing me to stay connected to you. You were a phenomenal teacher with a beautiful soul. I'm honored to have celebrated your birthday with you and fellow students.
I will miss you greatly.
I am so saddened to hear this news! One of the best college instructors I had the privilege and honor of knowing. She truly loved to teach, it showed every time I stepped into her classroom. JR inspired me to get involved in our community politics and helped shape my views on various issues within my county, state and country. The world has lost a lovely and kind lady. You will be missed. Rest in peace, JR! S.Straub, Sugar Land, Texas
"You will be greatly missed in this world!" I had the pleasure of having Mrs. Miller-Alper for a government class years ago and I was highly impressed with her tenacious spirit. Always standing for what she believes in. A woman with great integrity and strength. A sweet spirit, my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
May you Rest In Peace JR...we will keep fighting the good fight for you. Thank you for always speaking out for educators.
I will miss JR she was so passionate about her students and government!
Wonderful college days together at UF and Broward Hall dorm and at my wedding in 1969 in Miami Beach. We kept in touch via Joyce's yearly holiday letter, facebook, and time spent together during her visits to Gainesville. Joyce memory will always be for a blessing.
