Juan Vázquez Padilla's Obituary
Juan Vázquez Padilla, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on November 14, 2024. Born and raised in Corozal, Puerto Rico, Juan lived a long, fulfilling life marked by devotion to his family and God.
Also known as “Nito,” Juan was a hardworking and selfless man who always put his family first. He spent many years in New York and Bethlehem, PA, where he proudly owned and operated his own grocery store, all while working full-time at Lehigh University - reflecting his tireless work ethic and dedication.
Juan is now reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Teresa Rivera, who passed away 38 years ago after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a devoted father to Juan Alberto, Lizabeth, and Lillian; a dear brother to Francisco, Maria, Carmen, Margarita, Sixta, and Ramón; and a cherished grandfather to Nicole, Caroline, Daniel, Natalia, and Cristian.
Juan’s presence was a blessing to everyone who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and resilience served as an inspiration to all.
We will especially remember him as a true light in our lives. Whether it was his never-ending support or the endless hours spent playing Phase 10—where, no matter how far behind, he always managed to find a way to win!
Juan taught us what it means to persevere and how it was “mejor precaver que tener que lamentar.” He was, above all, a fighter, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
