June Wagner Blum's Obituary
June Wagner Blum, the daughter of Morris and Sadie Spinner, sister of Gertrude and Betty was born in Boston, Massachusetts, September 10, 1913. Growing up she learned from her father, who was a tailor, how to sew and create apparel. She met and married Daniel Wagner in 1933. They moved to Norwalk, Connecticut, where she had 2 children, Sanford and Kenneth and opened a chain of successful liquor stores. However, due to June's severe Asthma, she was forced to move to South Florida in 1949, where she resided for the rest of her life.
Initially, June worked for Ann Taylor women's clothes on Lincoln Road but after a few years moved on to work with her husband, Dan as a designer and co-director of operations for their handbag manufacturing company, Handicrafts, Inc, working until retirement in 1975. Her loving husband Daniel died in1988. She met and was very happily married to Irwin Blum in1992, until his death in 2010. June enjoyed her lovely condo in Bal Harbor until her death February 6, 2016, at 102 years of age.
In June's whole life she was tirelessly involved in Jewish charities and organizations. Her list of involvement and accomplishments are almost too numerous to name. She was the President of the Sisterhood and the Temple in Norwalk, CN, the same at Temple Ner Tamid in Miami Beach. She served for 11 years as the President for Women's League of Israel, a Founder of the Women's Auxiliary at the Douglas Gardens Miami Jewish Home for the Aged, a Founder for both Mt. Sinai Hospital and Bar Ilan University in Israel. After 6 years with the American committee for Shaare Zedek, she was honored in 2001 by the city of Miami Beach Commission with “JUNE BLUM DAY", for all her contribution to Jewish causes and organizations.
June is survived by her loving children: Sanford and Dr. Kenneth Wagner and his wife Nancy; Grandchildren: Lisa Pugh, Kimberly Joseph, Tara Wagner, Francine Wagner, Wendy Torres and Geoffrey Wagner's wife Patti; Great Grandchildren: Mathew Wagner, Kene and Elle Pugh, Dylan and Darryl Torres, Jeffrey and Danielle Wagner.
Graveside Service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Park , 10301 NW 25th Street, Doral, FL 33172 at 11:30 a.m. on February 16, 2016.
