My absolutely favorite teacher from elementary school - 5th grade AP at Burning Tree Elementary in Bethesda, 1977-78. Inspired my love of theater and of learning, which evolved into teaching. My career as a teacher and teacher educator I can at least partially credit to her.
The number of people whom she reached as she did me must number in the hundreds. A great teacher is a gift to the world, and she was one of the best.
Laura Stoskin was my fifth grade teacher at Washington School in Springfield. I admired her and she seemed to see potential in me. She would have been pleased to know that I went on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees, had a scientific career, and liked it so much that I'm still working part-time at age 70, just for fun. I'm happy that she lived a full life, leaving a wonderful legacy, and that I could be a small part of it.
