Dr. Laurence David Schwartz's Obituary
Dr. Laurence David Schwartz passed away peacefully on February 8, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 81.
He is survived by his four children and their families; Cindy and Michael whose children are Max and Eli, Joshua and Karen whose children are Gabrielle and Reece, Daren whose children are Ean and Max and Macre Jay. He is also survived by his younger brother Dr. Barry Schwartz and his wife, Donnarae and their daughter and family.
Larry was born to Miriam and Joshua in Brooklyn, NY. on June 29, 1937. He moved to Miami Beach where he graduated from Miami Beach Senior High class of 1955. Afterwards, Larry attended the University of Miami, followed by the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA. where he graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery specializing in Orthodontics. Larry practiced Orthodontics in South Florida until 2006 and in Haiti until 2018.
Larry was an avid cook, having attended the Culinary Institute of America boot camp several times and adored building model trains and boats. Larry always kept himself busy volunteering at the Humane Society in Pagosa Springs, CO. and working on the Rose Bowl Parade Float in Burbank, CA. Whether it was cooking, modeling, painting or working, Larry enjoyed crafting with his hands. He also volunteered his time on the Alpha Omega Dental Society and several home owners associations.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 12 pm at Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida 33180 (305) 932-2700. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in his name to the Everglades Angels Dog Rescue, 2637 E. Atlantic Blvd., #269, Pompano Beach, FL. 33062.
