Leo Scherker's Obituary
Leo Scherker, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Scherker and father of Elliot, Steven, and the late Michael Scherker, passed away peacefully on August 22nd, surrounded by his loved ones. Leo lived a full and vibrant 100 years, leaving behind a legacy that touched the lives of many.
A retired jewelry designer and artist from Coral Gables, Florida, Leo's artistry was renowned worldwide. His exquisite designs graced the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, and he even created a unique pendant that traveled to the moon on an Apollo mission.
Beyond his creative achievements, Leo was a WWII veteran, an art teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, a passionate big band dancer, and a cherished grandfather of Julianne, Ryan, David, Emily, and Amanda, and great-grandfather of Riley Flynn, Jack Rowen, and Lyla Rose, who is named after Leo and Leo’s mother, Rose. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 25th, at 10:30 AM, Mount Nebo Miami Memorial Park, located 5505 NW 3rd street, Miami, FL .
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to charities benefiting children or to your local Ronald McDonald House.
