Dr. Leonard "Lenny" Steiner's Obituary
Dr. Leonard "Lenny" Steiner
July 13, 1930 - January 8, 2026
Dr. Leonard Edward Steiner died peacefully in his sleep on January 8, 2026. For 95 years, he lived a full and rewarding life. He had a strong moral compass and set a wonderful example for everyone he met, especially his three children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Following his medical training and service time as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in Corpus Christi, TX, Lenny continued his successful medical practice in Miami. Over the course of his career, he led a 10-person team of anesthesiologists at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital and Larkin General Hospital, where he set up respiratory therapy departments. As an anesthesiologist, his team was like his second family.
As an avid horologist, he was President of the Miami branch of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was admired for his generous sharing of knowledge and expertise, something that was evident to anyone who was lucky enough to know him. He was well known for his storytelling, as he loved to share parts of his life with those around him. When he wasn't with his wife, Penny, of 65 years, you could find him reading and smoking a cigar, doing crosswords, watching Miami football, fishing, or just peacefully overlooking the water. He had the gift of contentment. He loved his life and his family - how lucky can you get? He will be greatly missed by everybody whose lives he touched.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Memorial Park North, 4420 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida 33134. Arrangements by Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel (305) 932-2700.
