Lillian Goldblat, 96 was born and grew up in Newark, NJ passed away Sat. Nov. 2, 2013.
After her marriage to Victor W. Goldblat in 1938, she lived in Union, NJ for twenty years before moving to Springfield, NJ where she lived for twenty years. After the death of her husband in 1986 she moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida and then later to Hollywood, Florida.
For fifteen years Lillian worked as bookkeeper for her husband’s company, Victor W. Goldblat, CPA.
She was the accompanists for eighteen years for the Shiru Nah singing group in Northern New Jersey, which raised funds to help Israeli projects. In Hollywood, Florida, she joined the Choruspondents, a choral group for seniors, serving as President.
In 2006 Lillian moved to Israel expecting to stay there, but instead returned to Hollywood, Florida ten months later.
Lillian was a Life Member of Hadassah, Jewish Women Int’l, ORT, National Council of Jewish Women, and a Charter Member of US Holocaust Museum.
Lillian is survived by a brother Arnold Mirsky of Fanwood, New Jersey, a sister Rae Kane of Tamarac, Florida and Cranford, New Jersey, two daughters, Myrna Hoffman of Seattle, Washington and Sally Gazit of Israel, four grandchildren, Cobey Smith, Jessica Smith, Nell Waliczek and Avital Frank, two great grandchildren Benjamin Peterson and Sage Lily Waliczek.
Donations may be made to Hadassah. Services were held Mon. Nov. 4th in Miami, Florida under the direction of Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, Hollywood, Florida 954-963-2400
