Lois Sobel Auerbach's Obituary
Lois Auerbach, our stunning, wonderful and special mom became that beautiful butterfly and transformed from her life as we know it, on Thursday, August 13th, 2020.
Lois grew up in Charleston, West Virginia and always maintained that mountain charm. She found love with our dad, Herb Sobel, in Syracuse, New York while she was in undergraduate school and he in law school. During that next decade, she and Herb and their two young daughters moved to Miami, where they had a wonderful life together as a family and traveled extensively.
Lois was a people person who brought joy to everyone around her. She took on new friends easily, was a life master bridge player and an avid tennis player.
She met and married an amazing man, Bob Auerbach, in her early 60’s and moved to Longboat Key and then Sarasota Bay Club with him where they had a beautiful life together.
Her beloved daughters, Jan and Vicki, were her true loves along with her three grandsons-Aron who gave her the name "Magee" and Troy and Seth. Thus, her personalized license plate “Magee 3”.
When we would go into the Ringling Room to see a movie or into the dining room for dinner, Lois would go around reintroducing us to everyone. She knew everybody's name and wanted to make sure all her friends got to meet her daughters, her pride and joy.
Her 90th birthday party on November 21, 2019 was absolutely beautiful. She looked like a princess as Dana, her special caregiver, bought her a tiara.
Lois will be missed immensely by all who knew her. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her warm and wonderful persona and her zest for life.
She will live on in our hearts forever.
Jan and Vicki
