Lola Frankel's Obituary
With hearts full of love, cherished memories, and deep gratitude, the Frankel and Richter families are sharing the passing of beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lola Frankel (May 4th, 1930-December 9th, 2024). Her gentle spirit, creative mind, and sarcastic humor made her one of a kind, and we will forever cherish the countless memories of laughter, support, and warmth she gave so freely.
It's hard to believe that it has been six months since we gathered together for our grandpa’s funeral. We joked that grandma might have wanted to join him on his birthday, December 23rd, and we’d like to think there's some truth in that. After over 70 years of marriage, it’s a comforting thought that they’ll finish 2024 together as partners.
Grandma was our confidant, our best friend, our safe place. Whether we were curled up with her on the couch, sharing stories late into the night, or just walking hand-in-hand around the golf course, we always knew we could count on her to make us feel loved and valued. She had a way of making each of us feel like we were her favorite, meeting us exactly where we were in life and loving us in the way we needed. In her eyes, there was no such thing as a problem too big to solve, and no joy too small to celebrate.
Grandma’s creativity and artistry was part of everything she did. From her beautiful handwriting—each letter a work of art—to the fashion forward styles she sold in her store, her life was a testament to the beauty she saw in the world. She was the family historian, a creator, and above all, a lover of life. She had an endless number of stories, wisdom, and her sarcastic humor was always the perfect blend of sharp and loving. Even as she grew older, she never stopped caring for us, never stopped laughing with us, and never stopped reminding us of the importance of family, love, and togetherness. Her love for us, and the memories she leaves behind, will continue to shape us for the rest of our lives. We miss her more than words can express, but we take comfort knowing she is now reunited with grandpa, and their love will continue to guide us in the years to come.
Lola leaves behind two children: daughter Brenda Richter (husband Steve Richter), and son Irwin Frankel (engaged to Sigal Heby). Grandchildren Ryan Frankel (wife Evelyn Frankel), Daniel Frankel (wife Marissa Frankel), Elyse Richter, Erica Frankel, and Ethan Richter. And the newest member and next generation, her first great granddaughter Jayden Frankel through Daniel and Marissa Frankel.
