Louis A. Chaifetz's Obituary
Thank you for visiting this memorial page dedicated to my grandfather, Louis “Anche” Chaifetz and for being part of his life. We'd love for you to share your memories and stories about Lou here.
Lou Chaifetz died on December 26, 2013 at age 88. He was born on November 17, 1925. Lou was one of four siblings, brothers Harris and Sol and sister Celia.
Eleanor was fifteen when she met Lou on Mildred Street, in Philadelphia. They were neighbors and married in 1944. Lou, whose was also called Anche by close friends and family, lived much of his adult life in Philadelphia and then Cherry Hill, New Jersey raising his family with his wife of 69 years, Eleanor. Lou was the father of Jeffrey and Maxine, grandfather to Lesha, Josh, Sara and Elise, and great-grandfather to Madeline, Lila, Jake and Sophie.
Lou and Eleanor spent the last twenty-five years in Delray Beach enjoying their retirement, their friends and living the good life. They travelled the world together, enjoyed the finer things and always were there for each other, even through the hardest of times. They would always welcome family and friends to visit with open arms, and an available sofa bed.
My grandfather was a long-term survivor of Parkinson’s Disease. He never quit, he never gave up and was the strongest man I knew. Even though Parkinson’s slowly took his mobility, he still found a way to do the things he loved, like cooking. His crab and spaghetti recipe, as well as his clams casino, were legendary.
There are many parts of my grandfather’s life that I don’t know, and that is where you come in. Please share your stories with us. Help fill in the blanks of his life, so that we can all learn something new or remember something special about the man we loved so dearly.
Graveside service will be held on Sunday, 11:30am December 29, 2013 at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, Boynton Beach, FL. Join us in saying good bye.
