Madeline "Madge" J. Hyman's Obituary
MADELINE “MADGE” J. HYMAN nee’ Rosky, was born in Atlantic City, NJ, grew up in her much-loved Pikesville, MD, then eventually moved to North Miami Beach where she raised her family. She left us peacefully on October 27, 2022. Devoted daughter of the deceased Mitzi & Joseph Rosky. Beloved wife of the late William L. Hyman, D.D.S. for 56 years. Cherished mother of Eric Hyman, Robyn Weiss (Andrew), Judith Goldberg (Lawrence); Adored grandmother of Jennifer Friend (Scott), Steven Shechtman (Sarah), Jay Shechtman, Alexis Kandel (Zachary), Rachel Reiss-Mendez (Philip Mendez)) and Sabrina Reiss (fiance’ Matthew Redler). Loving, devoted sister, Rebecca “Bonnie” (Michael) Perry. Dedicated Aunt of Randi Spallina (Robert) and family, Brian Perry (Angela) and family.
Madge was “all things” Baltimore…the Ravens, steamed crabs, change of seasons, and her favorite color purple. Growing up in Pikesville, MD, she attended Forest Park High School, Class of ’54 where many of her lifelong friendships were forged. She went on to study at the College of Education at the University of Maryland College Park and was actively engaged in Phi Eta Theta History Honorary Society and her sorority Phi Sigma Sigma, loving the social interaction with her “sisters” and attending all the dances of the day. After meeting the love of her life “Bill”, a dental student, they became engaged and they graduated Maryland together in 1958. Upon marriage, they moved to Miami where Madge was ardently devoted to her family -- always planning adventures to enlighten her grandchildren’s lives, and showing an unwavering loyalty and support to her friends. She loved reading all different genres of books and periodicals, and traveling internationally, which contributed to her keen trivia talents. Tuesday night Mah-Jongg with her special group was her game for decades, and she enjoyed entertaining and toiling for holidays and parties. For 15 years, she served consistently as a classroom reading volunteer at Hagen Ranch Elementary, where she was said to be thoughtful, committed, and loved by the students. She was a life member of Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, and Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation.
Our family wishes to express our utmost gratitude for the comfort and dignity given by our mother’s two lovely and loyal caregivers, along with the aptitude, kindness and attention paid to her by all the nurses and staff at the Vi Aventura Care Center.
