I (Sari Axelrod) and my daughter were moving to California along with my family. Manny had already driven a moving truck with my dughter's father and my Father wiith our furniture across the usa from Fl. To Calif. Then I had to fly @ airplane to San Fransico with toddler & my Father sent Manny to escort me & my child to our new home which was south of San Fransico @ Montery . Rented car awaited us.......
As usual my daughter started to get fusy, crying and restless. Manny took her from me so I could use the bathroom @ coach as Manny walked up & down the hallway @ airplane. Without realizing it, he had walked & rocked my daughter into First Class....
Apparently every year the Football Coaches meet @ a city to have meetings, and that year was San Fransico............Manny was so stunned to see & be standing right in front of Don Shula with a tired child......He rushed back to our seats @ coach and so thrilled to have been right in front of him @ First Class. Manny told Don Shula how we were Dolphin fans etc....
When we had landed & were downstairs picking up our luggage, again; there was Don Shula next to us.......Manny began hollering to everyone & pointing that he is the best coach in FOOTBALL! GO MIAMI DOLPHIS!....................It was the early 80's so no homeland security to quiet Manny up! It was a memory between us that we cherished as we always brought it up!
My brother Brian was Manny's best friend and so he was like my other brother. He would come after work & fix my A/c's @ all my apts & houses that I lived in....He would never take money. He would sit with us and have dinner & a couple beers.
He was truly a mench and cared so much about Isreal. We did research about how we could go to Isreal & volunteer @ Army bases. But, that was on our Buckett List.
Manny was so proud of his MOM & Dad & what they went thru during World War Il.
He will be greatly missed by all of us as he was part of our extended family for decades....andi all our wonderful memories will forever live in our hearts as he will never be forgotten by, "The Axelrod Family"...........sarihope axelrod
