Marilyn R. Sobel's Obituary
SOBEL, Marilyn R., 85, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2016. The world has lost a wonderful loving woman. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she married her childhood sweetheart, Martin Sobel, CPA. They moved to North Miami Beach in 1960. They were lovingly devoted to each other for 59 years until his death in 2010. She is survived by her children Stephen V. Sobel, MD, a psychiatrist in San Diego (Frances W. Brown) and Cynthia S. Sobel, CPA of North Miami Beach (Jon M. Gold) and her three granddaughters Robyn E. Gold of Aventura, a Miami-Dade County Public School elementary teacher, Lesley C. Gold of Acworth, Ga., a WOTC processing specialist, and Ariel W. Sobel of New York City, an actor. She attended Temple University and worked as a legal secretary while in Philadelphia. Marilyn’s life was devoted to family and friends. She had tremendous compassion, care, and love for everyone, especially children. She served as PTA president, Middle-School Principal’s secretary, Guardian Ad Litem volunteer, library volunteer, and reading tutor at Highland Oaks Elementary School. She loved to read, cook, and knit. She especially enjoyed making people happy. Marilyn’s life is best described with the words she most often spoke, even as she dealt with Alzheimer’s disease, “I love you!” We love her too and will miss her. Her legacy of love will continue. The family does not have words to express their gratitude to Pauline and Raquel, Marilyn’s caregivers for more than six years. Their devotion and love made her last years happy. Donations in Marilyn’s honor may be made to Temple Israel of Greater Miami, 137 NE 19 St., Miami, FL 33132. Shiva will be held on Saturday evening and Sunday. Please call 954-744-8440 for Shiva information. Arrangements by Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert (305) 538-6371
