I shared many Civil War battlefield tours and lectures with Marshall, particularly when he visited North Carolina to stay with his friend Horace Mewborn and follow Ed Bearss' visits to Civil War round tables across the state. I'm sure the three of them are now having a grand old time in the afterlife. God bless you, Marshall.

We knew Marshall for only a short time . However , as everyone who knew him, we were truly blessed to know his dry humor and and as a person who truly cared for others . Marshall was a menscht to the highest degree and will be truly missed.

After reading all the wonderful tributes to Marshall I don't know what I can add. He was certainly one-of-a-kind, an intelligent, funny (in his own way), passionate human being. Wally and I are so blessed to live three houses down from Roberta and Marshall. The times we shared may not have been as extensive as some of the other respondents, but our friendship has been a gift! We pray that G-d gives Roberta the strength to get through this difficult time. Marshall shall be be truly missed!!
The Krolick's were always part of my family. Marshall was bigger than life in many ways. Not only tall in stature but of great mind as a lawyer and as an expert of the Civil War. While he was short on patience he was long on his passion for topics greater than most wanted to tackle and of loving support to Roberta, my moms dearest, life-long friend. Marshall who was "Tex" in college and remained that way for me ever since.
He was my friend of longest standing and we enjoyed our "kindergarten golf game
including Bob Abt, Michael Moss and myself.
Tex was one of the good guys. I think the word Mensch was invented to describe him.
He will be missed and fondly remembered.

To the Krolick family, sending all of my love and heartfelt condolences. I was lucky enough to know Marshall my entire life. He was a true and best friend to my parents but also to our entire family. I loved hearing stories about how he painted the driveway pink when I was born, or made everyone laugh even during difficult times like the passing of my Uncle Lester. I always saw Marshall as the definition of a Mensch. Many times he showed his willingness to give and help others beyond expectations, whether it was sharing his wisdom and guidance or giving his generous time. Even though he often had a negative perspective, he ALWAYS made me smile. He was one of a kind and I will remember him with love and gratitude. The world has lost one of the best. May his memory be for a blessing and may he rest in peace.
