I didn't even know Marty was ill with als, no wonder he didn't answer my phone calls.I can't tell you how sorry we are to hear this news and our hearts go out to you Amy and Jason. I knew Marty for over 60 years and loved him as my best friend. We hadn't seen each other for about 15 years, but we talked often on the telephone. He was the most creative writer I've known and respected him greatly. The best memory I have of Marty is when he and I were co-creative directors of The ZD consumer magazine division. Bill Ziff told us to give Psychology Today creative ideas and many went unappreciated. Marty was a gentleman and a kind man-- one you can love and be a best friend since I was 29 and he was 30. At age 40, we kidded about getting old and now at our age, 40 is like being young again. And that's one of many memories i have of Marty. I can still see his face as it was when we were young and old and will treasure him forever. Love, Allan and Pilar
