Martin Gold's Obituary
Martin "Marty" Gold of Sanibel, passed away at the age of 75. He is survived by his sister Beatrice, sons Mark and Merrill (Melinda) and grandchildren Piper, Dillon, Eliana and Molly. He was proceeded in death by his sister Phyllis and wife of 43 years, Rebeca (Akerman). Born in Philadelphia to parents Morris and Mary Gold (Goldstein), Marty moved to Miami to work for his uncles at their hardware store before attending the University of Miami. He was a prominent Certified Public Accountant in Miami for over 30 years before "retiring" to Sanibel where he continued practicing part-time.
Marty was the long time treasurer of B'nai Israel synagogue in Miami. He was a supporter of several local wildlife organizations and took in many rescue dogs (and one turtle) over the years. He had an unassuming way about him, but this hid his rapier like wit and sarcasm as well as his serious devotion to his family. Those who knew him loved him and he maintained lifelong friendships.
He was laid to rest next to his wife Rebeca at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Miami on Thursday, December 18th. Arrangements by Levitt Weinstein Eternal Light Funeral Service Center (305) 932-2700.
