Martin Alan Rubin's Obituary
RUBIN
Martin Alan 71, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on December 16, 2013. Marty was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Miami Beach as a young child. He graduated from Miami Beach Senior High and the University of Miami. His love of sports was shown through his participation throughout his life in basketball leagues, local and national softball leagues and tournaments and being a faithful follower of the Canes. In the 70’s and 80’s “Marty Rubin’s Sports Den” was the local store to shop for sports apparel and equipment. He sponsored and coached numerous youth leagues to encourage children to have the same love of sports that he had. Over the past 10 years he volunteered his services to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as the Volunteer Coordinator for South Florida and mentored those who need support.
Never will you meet a man who more faithfully lived for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Kim, beloved children Marla (Peter) and Shari (Robert), dear sister Fredda (Katia), and adored grandchildren Madison, Hunter and Bryce. We were not only a family but best friends. Marty was loyal, kind and devoted to his family, friends and the U. He loved to laugh and to make people laugh. He taught us about unconditional love, forgiveness, and perseverance. You will be deeply missed, Big Guy
In honor of Marty’s love of sports and children the family requests that donations be made to the Maccabi Fund at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center. www.dpjcc.org Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, December 19th at
Levitt-Weinstein Beth David Chapel
