Max W. Harris' Obituary
HARRIS
Max W. 88 passed away December 17, 2013. He was born April 26, 1925 in Flint, Michigan to Louis and Esther Linder Harris. A graduate of Howe Military Academy, Howe, Indiana, he entered the U.S. Army Air Core and served during World War II, stationed in El Paso, Texas and Cuba. After the military, Max attended the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida where he met his loving wife, Martha Dorman Harris. He was a member of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity. They spent their first 30 years of marriage in Flint, Michigan. While living in Flint, Max was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, where his grandfather was a founding member. Max had a successful insurance business for many years while living in and being a supportive citizen of his small intimate community of Flint. After he retired, Max and Martha moved to Miami Beach. In 1986, Harris Ltd. Stationary and Engravers was born at the Shops of Bal Harbour. Max is predeceased by his parents & brother Bernard J. Harris (Arlene Davis). Max leaves behind his loving wife Martha of 63 beautiful, harmonious years, his daughter, Lisa Dorman Harris & her life partner Suzanne Blas, his sister Deanna Harris Burger (Robert) and many nieces and nephews who will all miss and cherish Uncle Max’s memory. Max was a gentle soul who always carried a warm smile and a friendly hello. He genuinely cared how you were. For many, Max was the sweet boy with the dimples behind the North End department store, “Louie’s”, which his mother and father started in the early 1920’s. A young retailer at heart; this carried him through his life, wanting to help everyone. Max was truly a sweet, caring, loving husband, father, son, brother and the best uncle ever. Donations may be made in Max’s memory to Mount Sinai Medical Center or the charity of your choice. Graveside Service 12:00 noon, Friday, December 20th at Mt. Nebo Miami Cemetery, 5505 NW 3rd Street
