Mayer Ovedia's Obituary
Our hearts are heavy with grief and love, as we mourn the loss of the one and only, Mayer Ovedia—a man whose presence left a permanent mark on our souls, across the states, and in the very heart of his beloved Israel. Mayer, the adored husband of the late Ellye and cherished father to Howard and Nicole Ovedia.
Mayer filled a special place in the hearts of his brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and countless friends, being affectionately marked as the "favorite" by anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Mayer's warmth, love, and infectious spirit leave a void that will ache in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious sense of humor and countless shared laughs became the cornerstone of all his relationships.
Since he left us, our days have been filled with heartfelt conversations, messages, and acts of generosity that share a common theme—Mayer's limitless love and laughter had the extraordinary ability to bring enrichment to every life he encountered.
Our father possessed the gift of bringing joy and making everyone feel welcome. He was a stranger to none, always striving to bring happiness to others. He held doors open, expressed thanks generously, and viewed the world through a lens of equality. He extended fatherly care to those without and became a second father to many. He didn't have any enemies and didn't like the word 'hate.' He didn't see any value in arguing, criticizing, or being mean. His character was pure love.
It was the utmost honor to be by our father’s side as he took his last breath, a privilege for the greatest gift on this earth anyone could receive. We know a celebration awaits in heaven for the life of the party.
Private services were held at Levitt-Weinstein in North Miami Beach, FL. Also, we are blessed that family, and friends, both in the States and abroad, are honoring his memory in line with Jewish tradition.
We truly feel blessed to have had everything we ever needed. Rather than flowers, we kindly request that you honor my father's memory in a way that feels right to you.
