I am so sorry of your loss.Dr. Rech was a great orthopedic surgeon. He operated on my knee twice and I must say what a caring kind Doctor. He was an angel on earth as he is in heaven
I was so sorry to read of Mel’s passing. Our years in Kirksville were memorable and was there for the birth of David during my residency! Mel brought me to FL to complete my training in urology. He was an exceptional orthopedic surgeon and colleague.
Mel was a close friend and colleague for 50 years. He had great charisma and was a talented orthopedic surgeon. My patients adored him. We spent great times at the beach when David was growing up. I will miss him but I know he has gone to a better place
I was a medical student with Dr. Rech in the early 90’s. He helped me find a residency program and remained a mentor and dear friend. Mel will live on in the skills he gave me to become an orthopedist. He was a great mentor and friend who is missed by me and my family. Patricia A. Baumann, DO, FAOAO
My condolences to the family, colleagues, and many friends of Dr. Melvyn Rech. We were Residents together in 1971 in South Florida, and later colleagues (he in Orthopedics and I in Internal Medicine) in many of the Dade and Broward County hospitals. He also trained at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. He was always appreciated by his friends and colleagues and will be missed by the medical community. Very sad to see him pass.

I was fortunate to have known Dr. Rech over 35 years - having worked in numerous emergency departments of hospitals for which he was a staff orthopedist. He was a compassionate physician and respectful and personable to staff. Even in the middle of the night he could be humorous. I know he set several fractures for my own kids and recall he was a trusted provider for many other nurses' kids - a true measure of trust. Rest in peace.
