Merna Iva Turner's Obituary
TURNER, MERNA IVA 95, of North Miami Beach, born on July 13, 1929, passed away
peacefully on May 21, 2025. Merna was born in the Brooklyn, New York. She married
Manny Turner at Tavern on the Green in Central Park, NYC, on May 26, 1949. They
initially raised their family on Turner Drive in New Rochelle, N.Y. In 1975, they moved
permanently to North Miami Beach, where she remained at the Cedar Glenn
Condominium for the past 50 years.
Merna is survived by her devoted daughter, Dr. Jill Turner (Dr. Marc Gellman), of Miami
Beach, and brother David Stein (Mickey), of Middle Island, NY. She is predeceased by
her husband, Manny Turner, and son, Gary, parents Ida and Jacob Stein, and sister
Frances.
While in New Rochelle, Merna had a business of selling Object’s d’Art, raised miniature
and toy white poodles, and was an advocate for stray dogs. In the 70’s living in North
Miami Beach, she sold handbags at Giobbe’s in Loehmann’s Plaza. She stayed active
playing Blackjack, Mahjong, Canasta, and Pan. Manny and Merna loved to cruise,
taking over 50 of them.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th Street, Doral, Florida 33172.
